UK - There are rumours that the English Bridge Union are considering a move to Manchester. The new headquarters would include a National Bridge Centre where major events could be hosted. It sounds like a good idea but spare a though for the staff who might not be able to relocate from Aylesbury.

Paul Hackett was one of the first to reserve rooms for his team in the Transnational event at the forthcoming World Bridge Championships. The WBF had requested teams from the West to book the more expensive rooms, and Paul did so, saying it was his patriotic duty. I wonder if the team sponsor David Mossop who is footing the bill sees it in quite the same light?

UK - The Annual General Meeting of the English Bridge Union's Council is due to take place on 3 October 2001. There have been calls for the resignation of the Chairman of the EBU, David Harris, at the two previous Council Meetings and these seem sure to be repeated at the AGM. Strangely enough, the minutes of those two earlier meetings, prepared by the EBU, contain no reference to the resignation calls.16/09/01
