SURF THE PLAYING SITES

August 2006

From Bridge Forum International
A school for bridge players of all levels

With the proliferation of playing sites and new sites for contract bridge,
we reserve space to inform you of new sites and newsworthy events. We invite
proprietors of the various bridge sites, whether playing sites or others, to
send in information for this Bulletin.

A) Bridge Club Live! (www.bridgeclublive.com), in its 12th year (and a long
way from the old standard of 9600 baud) now has a game for ACBL members,
7:00 p.m. Sunday GMT (11:00 a.m. Pacific, 2:00 p.m. Eastern). They also have
a shop where one can buy polyester fleece jackets or vests (eight colors to
select from in most sizes) up to 4XL or polo shirts to the same 4XL size. On
the polo shirt (nine colors to choose from) you can have your alias
embroidered on for an extra charge.

They are looking for directors to handle their Saturday pairs, so if you've
passed your directing course, see whether you can give them a hand.

B) Bridge Base Online (www.bridgebase.com) has had very long month of
August, as Vugraph coordinator Roland Wald, his team of online commentators,
the onsite operators and the various tournament organizers have run us from
Bangkok to Hong Kong to Warsaw among other locations for various local,
national, continental and world championships. They will be in Honolulu come
November for the NABC there.

Be sure, though, not to miss this show! BBO will have Vugraph this September
of what one might call the equivalent of golf's Ryder Cup. The six best
pairs in the United States will face off against Europe's best pairs for the
Warren Buffett Cup. BBO will show every table during the competition. The
first broadcasts will take place September 18-21, in Dublin, Ireland, just
ahead of that previously mentioned golf event. For more information, visit
www.buffettcup.com and take a moment to register for their newsletter.

C) Swan Bridge (www.swangames.com) not only is in attendance at the European
Team Championship with their Bridgecast program (have headset at the ready,
as this uses real voices), but will also broadcast from the Champions Cup in
Rome this coming October.

D) From Okbridge (www.okbridge.com) we hear that its ACBL tournaments have
been underway for nearly 4 months now, and have had excellent turnout.
Average tournament size has nearly doubled since the first month, and over
2,700 Masterpoints were awarded last month alone. OKbridge offers the only
stratified ACBL tournaments online. There are 6 daily tournaments and one
can play in an unlimited number of tournaments for only $49 per year with
membership. To learn more and sign up for ACBL tournaments on OKbridge, go
to: www.okbridge.com/acbl. Or call OKbridge at: 1-888-652-7434 (US &
Canada), +1 858-490-6770 (International).
