Visakhapatnam

46th Winter Indian National
Bridge Championships
December 7-17, 2004

The tournament is being held in Visakhapatnam, a port city in the eastern city of India.

Golden beaches that stretch as far as your imagination, green hills rising high on the other side, a city thriving on modern industry and commerce in the midst. Visakhapatnam offers all these.

It is the second larget city of Andhra Pradesh and one of the fastest growing cities in Asia. It has Eastern Ghats on one side and the blue waters of Bay of Bengal on the other, giving the city a magical touch.

Nearly 1400 players will participate, including a few teams from our neighbouring coutries, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

There will be three main events.  The Ruia Gold Trophy for the team-of-four duplicate event - 16 rounds of ten-board matches from which 32 will qualify for the pre-quarterfinals which again will be on swiss league format consisting of eight 12-board matches; eight qualify for the quarterfinals after wich the format will be on knock out basis.  The BAM event for teams and Holkar Trophy for the pairs are the other events.
