Anniversary of the Polish Bridge Union
2nd CA ~ IB Trophy
Warsaw
England
were one of the eight countries invited to send a team to
Warsaw for the weekend of November 9th-11th 2001.
Participating
countries were Austria, Canada, England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands,
Poland and Russia. The invited teams were divided into two
pools of four; Italy, England, Russia and Canada in one group
and Poland, Netherlands, Austria and Germany in the other.
England
finished 3rd, and were awarded a bronze medal. England team:
Paul Hackett & John Armstrong, Alan Mould & Gary Hyett
(npc David Harris).
The
event was won by Austria (who defeated England in the semifinals);
the runners-up were Netherlands. England defeated Canada in
the play off for 3rd/4th place.
